Sponsorship of paediatric associations by infant formula manufacturers

The Lancet has published a commentary by ISSOP EC member Tony Waterston and Professor Charlotte Wright from Glasgow which takes to task the national paediatric associations that accept funding from manufacturers of breast milk substitutes for education, training or research purposes. 1st International Eurasian Congress of Social Pediatrics

Held jointly with the 5th National Congress of the Turkish Society for Social Pediatrics, this international congress of Eurasian social pediatricians represented a significant initial step in the formation of an active regional social pediatric group encompassing Turkey, which straddles Europe and Asia, and Central Asian and Indian sub-continent countries. New Budapest Declaration endorsements

A further two national pediatric societies, the UK Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) and the Maltese Pediatric Association (MPA) have endorsed the ISSOP Budapest Declaration. This brings to the total of organizations endorsing the Declaration to 30.
